bird-poop-on-car  You pull out of the car wash feeling pretty good about yourself and your nice clean car – and boom, splat, whoosh- a bird bombs your car – and that ‘just clean’ feeling is gone.  Our professional detailer says it’s important to take a proactive approach and quickly wash away the poop and other harmful objects such as bugs and tree sap.

 

We all know  bird poop is gross to look at but it can also be extremely damaging to your car’s paint job. The key, according to our expert, is to not wait too long to remove it. Bird poop and bugs have acid and can burn through the clear coat in as little as 48 hours.

Another reason bird poop can be so damaging is because some birds swallow gravel, which helps them digest food. The tiny gravel bits in the feces can scrape the surface of the car when wiped away.

We recommend this method to safely remove bird & bug dirt from your car: Remove as much of the offending dirt as you can with water- either from your garden hose or preferably at a self serve bay at the local car wash. Next spray the area with a plant based (natural) cleaner  and wipe it gently with a microfiber towel.
