5 Ways to Show Your Car a Little Love

We often associate February with love, hearts, flowers, and Cupid. The 14th is a day to celebrate our loved ones and show how much we care. This month also presents the opportunity to show love for something else that has proved to be reliable: your car.

You rely on your car more than you realize. It is important to take care of your vehicle, so that it is there for you when you need it the most. These tips will help you show some love to your car, not just in February, but all year long.

1. Make It Shine.

Give your car a good cleaning to remove the build-up of dust, dirt, and grime. To be honest, many experts recommend washing your car as often as once a week. However, most people do not follow this recommendation. Instead, they allow bird droppings, splattered bugs, and other matter to sit on their car’s surface. Not only does washing your car improve its appearance, but it prevents contaminants from causing potential damage. Set aside time this month to make your car sparkle.

2. Perform Proper Maintenance.

To avoid cutting you and car’s relationship short, regular service appointments are necessary. Your mechanic will check to ensure that your car is running properly. During this time, it should be determined whether your vehicle is in need of any replacements, such as spark plugs, rotors, or filters. Regular maintenance generally includes changing the oil and topping off the car’s fluids.

3. Buy A New Set Of Tires.

Has it been awhile since you last bought a new set of wheels for your ride? Making this investment is important for safety and performance. As the tread wears down, it can become difficult for your car’s tires to maintain traction with the road. Tires may last five years or more. However, it is best to test your tire’s tread. You can do this with a simple penny test. Place a penny in the tire’s tread. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, then it is time to replace. Also, be aware of cracks and bulges, which are obvious signs that a new set of tires is needed.

4. Organize The Interior.

If your car is not suitable for other passengers, it may be time to grab the garbage bags and toss that clutter. Start by tossing all those old fast food bags into the dumpster, along with any other trash that does not belong. Then, consider the items worth keeping, such as napkins, insurance papers, and more. Grab Ziploc bags, bins, and other storage items to keep your car tidy and avoid the interior from becoming a mess, again.

5. Shield It From The Weather.

Your car deserves protection from the changes of the seasons, from the blistering heat that summer brings to the frigid cold of a winter storm. Shielding your vehicle from the weather could mean different things depending on your situation. This could mean finally cleaning out your garage to make room for your priceless valuable. On the other hand, it could mean investing in a car cover or applying a polish to protect the paint.

So, in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, show your car the love and attention that it deserves. You will be glad you did.
